This is a great exercise to improve your hip rotation.
Get set up in golf posture with a club pressing into the ground. The more you press into the ground, the more engaged your core will become – giving you more stability and control of your lower body.
Start by rotating into your backswing and then downswing, trying to get your pocket toward the center of the club. This will ensure hip rotation and limit any lateral shifting (swaying and sliding).
You can progress this exercise by rotating in both directions. The next progression would be to take the club away and perform without any assistance. You can cross your arms over your chest, with your hands over your shoulders as you rotate in each direction.
This is a great drill for those who struggle with swaying/sliding or those who are too handsy and need more hip rotation.
